About a dozen of us met at Lilydale
(lots of variety there)
for Andrew’s “mystery ride” to Gippsland and he certainly showed us some great roads and scenery while generally avoiding traffic congestion.
Julian volunteered to do TEC duty
and once formalities were done, we rode east along the Warburton Highway to Wandin North and then followed back roads further east
via Gruyere, Hoddles Creek and Yarra Junction before heading off through the mountains to Noojee for our morning “cuppa” and rest break.
I stopped to take some photos
and a largish group of sports bike riders were out enjoying the day too.
We then rode on towards
(Andrew leading the way)
Mt Baw Baw,
turned off and rode the very winding road down to Hill End and on via Erica and Rawson before stopping for rest and regroup at a lookout above Tyers.
I will admit I was ready for a break as the roads had been both enjoyable and challenging so the extra rest break was appreciated by all I believe.
(Jack descending towards Tyers)
We then rode to Trafalgar for lunch and enjoyed a good chat.
Talk then turned to the route “home” but I bailed due to commitments at home and rode the highway back to Nar Nar Goon before taking to the hills on my way home.
Andrew – thanks for a very interesting route selection it worked well and I enjoyed the challenge. Julian – many thanks for doing Tail End duties. Thanks to all who came along and enhanced the camaraderie.
Cheers
