The meal and live entertainment on Saturday night will be onsite.

This year our entertainment will be provided by popular Gary Porthouse

We also plan to have an informal BYO  BBQ on the Friday night for a relaxed night of camaraderie

You can arrive anytime Friday onwards, enjoy activities on Friday night, plus both Saturday and Sunday and leave on Monday or arrange your attendance times to suit your circumstances.  There is no minimum accommodation requirement.

There will be an organised ride on Saturday and nearby attractions include a variety of wineries, museums and merchants plus a good variety of roads for riding.  There is a Games Room with a TV for those who may be interested in watching the AFL Grand Final.

Samples from previous rides follow.  We are leaning towards a shortish ride to Whroo, Rushworth and Murchison to enable an early afternoon return for those who must watch the footywink

The Odyssey - Register and Book Now

The Odyssey is now less than 2 months away so it really is time to both register and book your accommodation.  Book your accommodation by 31 August

Subsequent to us booking the venue and date, the State Government decided to make the Friday a Public Holiday and this has ramifications on holiday booking rates and demand.   Suzanne has been in contact with the Nagambie Lakes park and below is a message from her;

"I have been in recent discussions with the Manager at Nagambie Lakes Leisure Park due to there being some confusion as to the rates payable for accommodation, be it a cabin, caravan site or camp site, on the weekend we have booked for our Odyssey – that is:  the weekend of 2-4 October 2015.

At the time I made the booking for the Melbourne Branch’s Odyssey we were aware that it was AFL Grand Final weekend.  The Victorian Government has since designated Friday 2nd October 2015 as a Public Holiday.  It is now a “long weekend”, and Nagambie Lakes Leisure Park has been inundated with requests from the general public for accommodation and it is also the tail-end of school holidays.  Normally PEAK RATES would apply.

To their credit, Nagambie Lakes have confirmed with me that the accommodation for Ulysses members attending the Odyssey will remain at the STANDARD TARIFF.

HOWEVER – SINCE THEY ARE HOLDING OVER A CERTAIN NUMBER OF CABINS, CAMP & CARAVAN SITES ON OUR BEHALF, AND DUE TO THE BIG DEMAND FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC, THE ACCOMMODATION RESERVED FOR ULYSSES MEMBERS WILL BE AVAILABLE ONLY UNTIL 5pm MONDAY 31 AUGUST.   I think this is fair and reasonable, due to it being a busy weekend.

The Odyssey is always a great weekend, it’s an opportunity to catch up with Ulysses members from other Branches, it’s another opportunity to ride your motorcycle and the Saturday night dinner is always fun.  Those of you who attended last year will remember enjoying camaraderie and a good meal.

This year we have Gary Porthouse as the entertainer (Gary has provided music at our last two Christmas functions) and Gary will also have his partner singing with him, so it promises to be a great night of entertainment.

For those who haven’t already booked, WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO BOOK NOW TO ENSURE YOU SECURE YOUR ACCOMMODATION FOR THIS GREAT WEEKEND.  Do not leave it until the last minute, and be aware that vacancies could be few and peak rates will apply after 5pm on 31/8/15

A registration form is attached for your use.  Please register your attendance with David Clarke (the registration form provides all the details)

Pay your registration fee of $55.00 pp into the Melbourne Branch bank account (details on the registration form) or send a cheque (payable to Ulysses Club - Melbourne Branch) to David Clarke at PO Box 338 Boronia 3155.   Please note:  a meal cannot be guaranteed until your registration fee is received.

Please contact either myself or David if you have any questions.  Links available via 'Contact Us' on this website.

Come on fellow members – get on board to make this another great Melbourne Branch Odyssey !

Regards,

Suzanne Clarke
