Eildon, I Love You...

Be damn if I gunna miss the Lilydale ride to Eildon, so the alarm is set for 8:08am with a promise to myself to be on the road by 8:40. OK, it's alright to break a promise to oneself every now and then., 8:45 the bike is warming up and I'm out of here. Got to Lilydale in an hour so there was plenty of time to say g'day and check out the six bikes there. Hmm small turn out but then they came, a further seven arrived and before long 14 of us were being briefed on the route...

Here we go with the markers set for turn offs which I love, got set down and get to work my way closer for another set when we arrived at a lovely little cafe on the Melba Hwy. The usual coffee and a splendid array of sweets and cakes that only tempted me this time so I settled for this quaint little cake which cost me... $4.50!!! That's the same price as a tart stuffed with strawberries, oh well, could have eaten that cake with one bite but I didn't, I made the most of that $4.50...

The road awaits us where we run into King Lake and head for my favorite road, the Whittlesea-Yea Road. Get up past Hazeldene and these two Harleys plodding behind some tourists whose patience thankfully wore thin so they eventually passed and gave the mighty Ulysses brigade the opportunity to hit some bends with some gusto. Yay Yea! We stopped for a couple of riders to fuel up and left Yea for a back road to Alexandra, that road was Whanregarwen Rd. We hit this baby like no other. Had a great sprint with a member on a bike resembling a police bike, you Vic members know who because I'm terrible remembering names. Next road past Alexandra was Ut Creek Rd then Skyline Rd where the views of Lake Eildon were spectacular to say the least, I was so thankful for stopping at a lookout I took a leak while the boys got a group photo taken. He who pisses is lost said Mr Greg Scott the ride leader. This ride was so good I'll walk over red hot coals to go on a ride organized by Greg. We cruise down the hills to Eildon where we come to a fine top class restaurant and bar, Aqua they called it. Ordered a scotch fillet and ate this brilliant dinner over looking lake Eildon littered with an assortment of boats and house boats...

My second ride with Ulysses and it just gets better and better. My ride home went through Healesville and it was the best ride of my life, seriously...
