Ride Report, Ardeer to Gisborne

Submitted by rogerfoot1 on Sun, 28/05/2023 - 4:32pm

I take as my text for today the immortal words of our beloved dear departed brother Chuck Berry:  "C'est la vie, say the old folks, it goes to show you never can tell."

Steve, Big Dave and I touched down in Ardeer in the middle of the pouring rain, and after discussing options for the ride decided to play it by ear.

Ride Report - Kalkallo, not to Clunes (21st May 2023)

Submitted by MikeF on Sun, 21/05/2023 - 6:40pm

The weather during breakfast was just plain horrible - grey, drizzly and wet ! But the rain radar suggested the drizzle was heading north-east while the ride was going north-west. So I rode off to Kalkallo expecting to only see one or two others turn up, to be met by three riders already waiting ! In the end 11 of us left Kalkallo (once Jack had arrived) and went up to Wallan and across to Woodend, with the temperature staying in the 9-10 deg range.

For Mother's Day we were greeted with as perfect a weather day as could be imagined for Autumn. Only a relatively small but keen group turned up at Officer. Family commitments are important. Also we have a number of members either overseas, recovering from operations, skin grafts or just returned from time away at the National Rally.

Ride To Young, NSW, 02/05/2023.

Any excuse for a ride and this one was to give Mike Fittal some company on his ride to the Ulysses National Rally. Five of us fronted up for an 8:00AM Lilydale start in fine conditions which held right through the day. The brave participants were Mike, Steve Bailes, Colin Voss, Jeff Pav and myself. Early running was the back way to Benalla, joining the Hume Freeway there. Before getting to Benalla we were passed by ab oncoming Highway BMW X5. I was rear running and having a very untrusting nature I expected that he would spin an unseen u-turn and come back to try and make some money.
