National Treasurer Stepping Down

I have cut and pasted this from the Treasurer's Report from the Spring Edition of Riding On

"POSITION VACANT -- NATIONAL TREASURER – ULYSSES CLUB INC.

Since my wife passed away in March, I have spent considerable time contemplating my future and the activities I would like to involve myself with in 2022 and beyond. I will be 77 years old at the next AGM and after seven (7) years on NatCom I believe I have made a reasonable, honest contribution. There is a narrowing window of time for me to do the around Australia jaunt or be able to ride my bike to wherever, whenever. Consequently, I shall not be nominating for a role on NatCom for 2022 and beyond.
Nominations for National Committee, including for National Treasurer, close on 30th November 2021.
The role of the Treasurer is defined in the Club’s Constitution. Essentially it involves responsibility for the fiscal affairs of the Club. It may be preferable for the Treasurer to be a resident of NSW. This allows the Treasurer to more readily keep in touch with the National Administration Staff and to comply with the statutory requirements to be the Club’s Public Officer should the next National Secretary not be a NSW resident. Although interrupted by Sydney’s COVID lockdown, NatCom has reviewed staffing and personnel requirements to strengthen internal accounting skills and reduce the load on the Treasurer. Pandemics willing, these changes will be well bedded down before there is a change in National Treasurer. I would welcome a call from any member considering nominating to discuss in detail the function of the Treasurer on the National Committee.
My contact details are: National Treasurer – John Osborne Email: treasurer@ulysses.org.au
John’s Phone number is available in your Riding On Magazine

John Osborne  #41785  National Treasurer"

I would like to offer my condolences to John on his loss, offer my thanks to him for his efforts on the National Committee over the years and wish him well for the future.

More from Natcom
  1. Today I received a reminder regarding the fact that nominations for National Committee close at the end of this month.
  2. I believe the National Admin office is open again and the Gear Shop is active again
  3. There was also a reminder that the club still subsidises training and I will include part of the email:

Would you like to undertake some rider training to increase your riding skills and safety. Do you know about the rebate available to financial members?

The Ulysses Club offers rebates for 50% of the cost of advanced rider training, with a maximum of $80 per three year (consecutive) membership period.

  • The rebate applies once in every three-year membership period to financial members only (not to those in the “grace period”)
  • The rebate is up to a 50% rebate to a maximum of $80. If the 50% rebate is less than $80, the difference remains a credit until the members’ next renewal date, when it is reset to $80. The rebate does not accumulate.
  • The Rider Training rebate is only available to licensed riders attending a road safety and / or skills based advanced training course. The rebate is not available for training required to obtain a motorcycle licence.
  • The rebate is only available to members who successfully complete the course, not for just making a booking.
  • The Administration Office requires a copy of the certificate of completion issued by the training provider, plus evidence of payment (receipt).
  • In the case of block bookings (by groups or branches), the Administration Office will require individual copies of completion certificates, or a formal listing on Company letterhead with confirmation of completion. Each member will receive their rebate directly.
  • A rebate of $60 for First Aid courses is also available.
